Similar to its Coupe cousin, the vehicle is priced at $1,882,920. The car has the same standard engine, but otherwise is very different with a removable roof that can be stored in the front trunk. It also has five different drive modes and an adjustable suspension that make the car specialized for both the track and the road.#2 Bugatti Veyron Grand SportThe Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is a more luxurious version of the standard Veyron and is priced just over 2 million at $2,027,760. It is one of the top 3 fastest cars coming in at a top speed of 254 mph with an 8-liter, 16-cylinder with a 7 gear, twin-clutch gearbox transmission. The grand sport reserves around 700 horsepower for a quick burst of speed when needed while the cruise control helps maintain a consistent high speed. Like the standard Veyron, the car stops fast, coming to a full stop in just 32 meters with the help of its rear spoiler.#1 Koenigsegg CCXRThe rarely seen and heard Koenigsess CCXR is not only one of the fastest vehicles on the market, but also is the most expensive at $2,173,950. Like the Bugatti cars, the CCXR has just over 1000 horsepower coming from a 4.7 L aluminum v8 engine. It also has many of the most desirable accessories in vehicles with a standard storable hardtop glass roof, rear wing, carbon ceramic brakes, hydraulic lifting system, navigation, rear view cameras, DVD, CD, iPod, satellite radio, climate control, leather carpers, car cover, and a tire monitoring system. Other things like leather interior and color options are available to buyers, but you need to know someone in order to get one of these as production plans went from six cars to four. The Anatomy of Fear When most people think of expensive cars, they may think about Porsche, Lamborghini, or Lotus, but many of the most expensive cars are made by lesser known manufacturers such as Maybach, Pagani, Bugatti, and several others. Part of the recognition of the manufacturers that people do know about comes from their solidified place in music such as the “lambo” and the Bugatti. The rest of the manufacturers are just a little harder to fit into a rhyme or even a rhythm. Here are the most expensive cars.#10 SSC Ultimate AeroThe SSC Ultimate Aero isn’t known as much for its luxury as it is known for its speed. The twin-turbocharged SSC billet aluminum block V8 engine puts out nearly 1300 horsepower with a top speed of 270 mph and reaches 0-60 in a very impressive 2.7 seconds. The car is even more unique as the Guinness titled world’s fastest car and has only 50 models from 2007 to 2010. It is priced at $740,000 base price with an optional addition of carbon ceramic brakes for another $31,200.#9 Leblanc MirabeauThe Leblanc Mirabeau comes in at a whopping $861,798 with an optional $76,000 semi-automatic shifting option. Slightly slower than the Aero, it comes with a 4.7 liter V8 supercharged engine that puts out 700 horsepower and a top speed of 230 mph. It also reaches 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. What makes this car particularly unique is that the car is actually street legal as most cars of the same caliber are track only. However, the interior is rather sparse.#8 Pagani Zonda F CoupeThe first car to break a million dollars and the cheapest of four Pagani manufactured cars on the top ten list, the Pagani Zonda F Coupe is priced at $1,375,980. All of the Pagani cars come with a standard Mercedes Benz AMG v12 engine; this one is paired with a mechanical 6-speed transmission and twin plate clutch that puts out over 600 horsepower and reaches 0-60 in 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 230 mph. The body of the car is largely constructed with carbon fibre parts for extra safety. Now sold out, it originally was dedicated to Formula One driver Juan Manuel Fangio by Pagani.#7 Maybach LandauletAt the slightly more expensive $1,380,000, the Maybach Landaulet once again is based off of luxury rather than speed. The key features of the vehicles include a roof that fully opens at the rear while the chauffeur’s compartment remains enclosed. The process of opening and closing the roof takes 16 seconds with individual armchairs enclosed in white leather. It also has a partition screen that is clear glass with curtains, reclining rear seats with footrests, and a Dunhill umbrella.#6 Pagani Zonda F RoadsterAlso from the Pagani Zonda line is their F Roadster. The car which nearly mimics the coupe comes with the same engine, transmission, and similar speeds. Priced at $1,448,000, it is also largely of carbon fibre and titanium. There are only 25 roadster models available.#5 Lamborghini ReventonThe only Lamborghini to make the list, the Reventon is priced at $1,454,500. It also is one of the faster cars on the list coming in at a maximum speed of 211 mph. Inspired by the f-22 Raptor fighter jet and named after one of history’s most famous fighting bulls, the body of the vehicle is encased in carbon fibre and combined with luxury accessories inside and out. The model of the vehicle was introduced in 2007 with just 20 of them made.#4 Pagani Zonda Cinue Coupe & Bugatti VeyronPagani and Bugatti tie for the position. From Pagani, the more recent Zonda Cinque Coupe only sold five in 2009 before being sold out and is priced at $1,738,080. With the standard Mercedes-Benz engine, the Cinque borrows from their track supercar leaving the roll cage out and bringing in the upholstered interior. On the other hand, the Bugatti Veyron, also priced for $1,738,080 is likely the second fastest car in the world with a 16-cylinder engine that puts out over 1000 horsepower and a top speed of 255 mph. The 4-wheel drive car has three driving modes to conserve power even when driving at the highest speeds. The really unique thing about the Bugatti vehicle is that the car actually stops faster than it accelerates—2.3 seconds to go from 60-0 mph versus the 2.5 seconds going from 0-60 mph. Part of the expensive cost comes from the expensive materials the car is made from like titanium, carbon, magnesium, and aluminum.
